The Johan Cruijff ArenA is teaming up with the interactive app Close to optimize a visit to the stadium. When the doors of the ArenA are allowed to open again for visitors, Close's direct communication platform will initially be used to personally inform visitors of the Stadiumtour before, during and after their visit. In addition, both parties will research whether the app can also contribute to the guidance of larger groups.

Boiler is an app designed for matching talent, solutions and resources to create meaningful connections during an event, in a community or in an (innovation) ecosystem.

In recent months, the municipality of Amsterdam, TNO and living labs such as the Johan Cruijff ArenA have investigated how, with the help of smart technology and behavioral insights, larger groups of people can come together in a safe and responsible manner in times of corona. The Rijksmuseum and theater and musical producer Stage Entertainment were also involved as testing grounds and research was conducted in and around the event locations.

Security and Safety Things operates an open IoT platform that connects camera manufacturers, SoC providers, application developers, VMS providers, and systems integrators. Its goal is to accelerate the speed of innovation for security cameras and applications that make use of AI and computer vision.

A new scientific research project headed by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) focusing on aerosols and COVID-19 should provide fundamental knowledge leading to the safe reopening of sports accommodations during pandemics. The Johan Cruijff ArenA is one of the test venues.

How can we use innovations to advance football during the coronavirus pandemic? The Football Innovation Platform (which consists of KNVB, UEFA, City Football Group, Johan Cruijff ArenA and Ajax) posed this question to all innovative companies worldwide. This challenge, named "Reimagine Football", resulted in 329 submissions from 38 different countries. The winners per theme were announced after the final pitching event.

Leading European football organizations, including UEFA, Royal Netherlands Football Association, City Football Group, AFC Ajax, and the Johan Cruijff ArenA, have joined forces to tackle the challenges this global pandemic brings for football.

Through Reimagine Football, we have challenged companies worldwide, ranging from start-ups to big corporates to come with smart innovations to reimagine football in the context of COVID-19: How to keep fans engaged while they cannot visit football stadiums, how to create a safe and engaging environment for fans, players and other personnel in the stadiums and how to enable youth and amateurs to keep playing and enjoying football.
