The KNVB, The Royal Dutch Football Association, chose a number of Reimagine Football innovations which have been implemented in their KNVB Oranje App, aimed at fans of the Dutch national football teams. Various international leading football organizations, including the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB), Johan Cruijff ArenA, City Football Group, UEFA, and AFC Ajax, have teamed up in order to tackle current challenges in the context of sustainability.
Innovative stadia require innovative security solutions
Like many research organisations, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) aims to increase its societal impact in various ways. One is to bring our scientific knowledge into society with joint research projects. The UvA, which is in the top 100 of many international rankings, offers a broad range of collaborative research opportunities for companies and public organisations. We are more than happy to become partner of the Johan Cruijff ArenA and thus to become part of the vibrant innovation ecosystem of one of the most exciting living labs in the Netherlands.
Once a year, the Acceleration event takes place where Johan Cruijff ArenA Innovation Amsterdam kicks off the new season together with all partners. For this occasion cooperation was sought after with KNVB’s innovation hub #11 and their partners joined the event as well. On Tuesday November the 2nd everyone came together at the Johan Cruijff ArenA to connect to the ecosystem, and to work together on common trends and challenges.
The Johan Cruijff ArenA has been added to the Sportinnovator network as a Certified Partner of Sportinnovator. Sportinnovator is the leading sports innovation network in the Netherlands. Sportinnovator and the ArenA are intensifying their partnership in order to improve the development of Dutch sports innovations at national and international level.
The KNVB, Ajax and the Johan Cruijff ArenA together with UEFA and the City Football Group are starting a global search for innovations that will help to make football more sustainable. These European football organisations want to challenge companies to devise smart solutions that make it possible to reduce CO2 emissions associated with football matches. Promising innovations will be tested in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and at the KNVB Campus in Zeist as of early 2022. Innovations can be registered at www.reimaginefootball.com.
TNO and the Johan Cruijff ArenA will be further expanding and intensifying their existing innovation partnership. In the future, the organisations also want to investigate, test and optimise specific and feasible stadium-related innovations in fields such as sustainability, digitalisation and health. The partnership is part of the ArenA’s innovation programme, where the stadium functions as a Living Lab.
