We don’t always realize it, but we are living in extraordinary times. New technological solutions are being developed almost daily to help improve our lives. Sometimes visibly, but often not. Such as sensors that measure the grass condition. Or track-and-trace sensors or smart camera’s that make sure your equipment is protected. Connecting of all those devices together is called the Internet of Things (IoT). These devices provide information that allows us to make decisions. At the same time, these devices generate a lot of data. This means that careful thought must also be given to transporting, storing and protecting that data. And also to privacy & security, cloud storage and designing the network to provide the best connectivity. KPN plays a major role in the world of IoT and data sharing. More than 140 years ago, we gave Dutch people their first encounter with a telephone connection. We are still connecting the Netherlands today, by telephone and increasingly by digital means. We believe the Internet of Things will play a major role in the digitization of our lives.
