Everything in the ArenA: 2022 review
🏃🏾 14K Cruyff Foundation – 24 April 2022
Thousands of people walked the Cruyff Legacy 14K on Sunday April 24th – the marathon raised money for the sixth time to support the development of children in sports and games. The 14K started in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and had multiple routes, so even the littlest had the chance to run or walk along. The event raised €385.014 for the Cruyff Foundation.
🎸 Concert summer
2022 was the year in which concerts could finally take place again, and we noticed that in the Johan Cruijf ArenA. Artists like the Rolling Stones and Ed Sheeran came by, and Sensation White could finally happen again! Ed Sheeran was able to let 140.000 visitors come to the Johan Cruijff ArenA in one weekend. We've enjoyed all the music and danced with the thousands of visitors for these events. What about you?
🌱 The Netherlands - Belgium – 25 September 2022
On Sunday September 25th the Dutch national team played against Belgium in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. This match was one with 1-0, and we like to think that our Assistent Grassmaster was the reason why. In september we shared a campaign with the KNVB and Heineken, which allowed football supporters to win a day of being the Assistent to our Grassmaster Roy for one day. The lucky winner was Sylvia, who showed up in a completely orange outfit and spent the entire day with the grass team of the ArenA.
🔊 AMF and Champions League – 22 and 26 October 2022
Amsterdam Dance Event could finally take place again the way we loved. Which also meant we had a filled Johan Cruijff ArenA during Amsterdam Music Festival on October 22nd! DJ's like Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix and Tiësto provided an amazing night for 35.000 fans of dance music, and more than half of them came from outside of the country!
And just a few days after AMF, the ArenA became a place where Ajax could play during the Champions League match of October 26. The team unfortunately lost the match against Liverpool, but all the Ajax supporters still made sure everyone had a good night.
🕺🏼 Winter stop
Even in the colder months it was busy in the ArenA. The Dutch group De Toppers finally came back to the stage of the ArenA for three nights in a row in November! Thousands of people could sing along again with national and international hits in theme Flower Power Purple. Shortly after this party the Johan Cruijff ArenA got transformed into the Huis of Oranje - the biggest pub of the Netherlands, huge screens which livestreamed the World Championship, live performances from the best artists and the support of thousands of Oranje fans. It was an amazing experience!
